..I really liked this spruce block because it had a natural bass bar shaped grain runout like the plate arching. I decided to split it up and saw out bass bar stock for future violins. It does not have the ideal Wood Tone Scale I now prefer or # 22 Rub Tone characteristic. So I no longer use it. But the shape of the wood grain could not be beat!
  Wood wedges are hammered into the natural cracks to split the wood into managable size wedges.
  Next I band sawed the wood to slightly wider than 5mm. Notice the natural curving of the wood even though the wood is quarter sawn.
  This supply of bass bar stock may well fill my bass bar needs for many years to come.
...Some day I might find an even better piece to fulfill dream bass bar stock!
..Bass bar length is 10 1/2" [ 75% of plate length].
