A short time after completing this violin, my professional violin instructor Ron Kilde played a demonstration of various violins I had made at Cascade Bakery in Salem, Oregon for 1 1/2 hours.
The Salem Statesman Journal newspaper had done a fine feature article on my violin making which came out the morning of the event so a good crowd filled the table area in the front of the bakery.
Dinah (in white blouse) and her mom were hearing her violin for the first time. Ron played through five other violins I had made earlier (some with different design features) and played on this one (Opus #16) for the last forty minutes, taking requests from the audience.
Her violin was the hit of the show.
Others present were (left to right) my wife Karen, my mom Ruth, my first violin customer Mary and her daughter Bethany (who plays it in the Salem youth symphony), and standing at right my brother Jim.
It was a fun event for me , hearing a fine violinist playing excellent music on my various violins; to hear the differences and sense the progress I have been made over the past five years. (this was 15 years ago now!)
