The spruce plate is about 1/10 th of an inch thick, quarter sawn violin spruce top plate wood. The tap base is also spruce. The top 1/2 inch or so is rounded and glued into a predrilled hole in the miniature sound board. Pre drill the end slightly undersize before nailing in the finish nail (cut off head and round end)
The mania folder paper pieces are glued on the bottom and against the protruding center square spruce down. These amplify the sound we want to hear, so we can compare it to a wood reference ; either of tools mentioned on tool directory page.
