..This is your RUB TONE Scale... at your fingertips
.
These are the Rub Tone properties of some trees that make them especially suited for wooden musical instruments.
..I recommend that only instrument wood from trees that are between # 21 and # 23 on the Wood Tone Scale be used for wooden musical instruments {with # 22 Rub Tone being the ideal. For each violin part, there is one particular Rub Tone preferred { # 22 in every instance!}; there appears to be about a 10% loss in tonal quality for each step away from that ideal.
 ..
..This wood property is generated by a sliding motion with a wooden wand (stick) along the grain of the wood... listen for the hissing sound made and compare to the recordings...
..These Rub Tone recordings were made at my violin shop in Salem, Oregon, USA October, 2017 A.D.

..This is the permissible range of wood Rub Tones with # 22 being highly preferred...

..This is my Rub Tone scale using violin parts with the lowest response to the left and highest to the right. I labeled them in order starting with # 05 and left side and # 28 on the far right. The parts are glued to this strip of deer skin with a dab of clear silicone calking. There is just a decernible difference between each step. # 22 has been found to be the ideal for all types of violin making wood.

.. For those with a scientific bent I have analyzed several Rub Tones with my: "Wave Pad Sound Editor (Master Edition)" V 5.48 published by NCK
..I used the FFT Frequency Analysis to determine these results. This is the first major peak in the response curves.....
