"Double Tap Tone" wood selection Technique
In my work notes I designate the "double tap tone" with this symbol:
  What it signifies, it that two prior 'tap tools' with unusual properties are tapped through each other to produce a unique or hybrid tap response which I have named a "double tap tone".
  Both of these experimental tap tools were designed to amplify the tap tone so it was more easily heard; but both of these tools were considered 'failures' because their tap on a certain violin making wood piece made the same sound no matter where or in what part of the wood surface was tapped {certainly not what is usually observed by tapping with a wood, knuckle, or other tap tool; which varies with relative depth of the sample being measured -- the thicker sample direction sounding a higher tap tone.}
