Next, we use various hand and power sanding techniques to carefully bring the shape to the center of our guide line. This becomes a final surface so visually check that it is pleasing as you progress.
Compare the two plates'
'back to back' outlines to detect any problem areas.
A disc sander can be used to bring outline close to guide line, but finish with hand sanding sticks.
Remember, the slightest slip will permanently show, so err on side of caution.
The arching profile of the center sections of the plates is now approximately complete, but much work is yet to be done toward the outside edges of the two plates.
